The Women in Sport Research Collective is a seminal initiative for the All-Island Consortium for Research on women and girls in sport, exercise and physical health on the island of Ireland. This project, funded by Sport Ireland, is being led by the Local Sport Partnerships in Donegal and Galway, in partnership with Atlantic Technological University and a research team from Ulster University, Technological University of the Shannon, and University of Lincoln, UK. The overall aim of the Research Collective project is to improve research quality by ensuring that the views of women and girls in sport, from diverse backgrounds and settings, and the people who support them, are considered throughout the research process.

As part of this project, up to 15 individuals who have experience working with women and girls in different contexts and environments, from different backgrounds and geographical areas were invited to join the Research Collective. The Research Collective will work with the research team to guide the development, distribution and interpretation of a survey of perspectives on the development of research priorities for women and girls in sport, exercise and physical activity in Ireland. The findings of this Research Collective project will provide directions for future research and knowledge translation initiatives.
