The míde PGR event ‘3 Slides, 3 Minutes’  brought together 10 speakers for a fun, fast-paced hour of research sharing. Each speaker had just 3 slides and 3 minutes to deliver a snapshot of their research.

The talks were grouped into three broad themes. The first focused on physical activity and health promotion, with Aoife Verling setting the scene by exploring physical activity across the lifecycle. This was followed by presentations on menstrual health and physical inactivity, alongside innovative approaches such as dance-based interventions for adolescent girls.

The second group centred on physiology, nutrition, and athletic development, showcasing emerging research across key areas including sex-based adaptations to resistance training, hormonal influences on athlete monitoring, the impact of weight-making on menstrual health, and supporting women through motherhood in sport.

The final group returned to physical activity and health promotion, highlighting applied and community-based research, including evaluations of national initiatives such as Gaelic4Mothers&Others, Ireland Lights Up, and the League of Ireland’s ‘More Than a Club’ programme.

Overall, the event showcased both the quality and breadth of PGR research in the area of women and girls in sport, exercise, and health on the island of Ireland. The diversity of topics, alongside the clarity and enthusiasm of the presenters, highlighted not only the strength of current work in this space, but also pointed to a bright and impactful future for research in this area.
